Meet Julia, the owner of Addiction Treatment Consultants

With 18 years of sobriety and a lifetime of personal and professional experience navigating addiction and recovery, I bring a deeply empathetic, non-judgmental, and supportive approach to my work. My journey has been shaped by my own recovery and by the struggles of those closest to me — both my mother and my husband battled alcoholism, and I lost a sister to drug addiction. These experiences gave me an intimate understanding of the pain, resilience, and courage that surround addiction, recognizing that it is a symptom of a deeper issue and the healing process as a result.
Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of industries, but addiction was dominating my life and I was learning what works for different individuals and families at the school of Hard Knox. No two stories are the same, and I’ve seen how critical it is to meet people exactly where they are. Addiction is the symptom of a deeper rooted issue and as a trained interventionist, I’ve helped countless people take their first steps toward change — and supported many families through the chaos, fear, and uncertainty that addiction brings.
This work is more than a career for me — it’s a calling. The addiction recovery community has become a vital part of my life, giving me not only purpose but a powerful network of professionals and friends who share the same passion for helping others. I’ve built lasting connections, drawn from a wide range of resources, and witnessed transformation in its most powerful form.
My own life after addiction is one I never could have imagined — and one I’m endlessly grateful for. I grew up in Toronto, and fell into a dark place with an Opioid Addiction in my late teenage years, I made a choice to enter treatment and left my life, and toxic social setting, to get sober. I spent the first 8 years of sobriety living and working abroad in the UK, Kuala Lumpur, New York, Bristol, and the Middle East. When I moved back home to Canada, I knew that I would always keep my sobriety as a top priority, even with as many years as I had under my belt, so I chose not to live in the city. I now live on Georgian Bay with my two beautiful young children and my husband, who is more recently in recovery himself. We are surrounded by our un-apologetically loud and authentic family and a community that supports us, respects our boundaries, and values lived experience. The love, laughter, and peace in our home is a testament to what’s possible after addiction — and it’s a story I bring with me to every client I work with.
Whether you’re in the chaos of early crisis or quietly looking for the right support, I’m here to walk with you through it — with compassion, clarity, and hope because I truly believe that you too can free yourself from the weight of addiction.
